Movement prediction
Prediction accounts for the targetβs movement when calculating where to aim. This differs from simply following the targetβs current displayed position.

An opponent moving between pieces of cover may change position during projectile travel. Prediction concerns the calculated aim point for that movement. Supported Battlefield menus include prediction controls alongside smoothing and target selection; a REDSEC configuration should be evaluated with the selected package and mode in mind.

A linear mode offers a movement-based prediction approach where supported. It is one of the prediction modes available across the Battlefield cheat selection.
A ballistic mode offers another projectile-focused calculation where supported. Its behavior depends on the implementation and the weapon information available to the cheat.
Prediction changes the calculated aim point. Smoothing changes how aiming moves toward that point, so the two controls affect different aspects of tracking.
A target crossing your view may change position during the time a projectile travels. Prediction calculates a different aim point from the targetβs current displayed position. Target direction, movement and the projectile information used by the implementation influence that calculation. A target changing direction after the calculation can still affect the result.
The Battlefield selection includes prediction controls with named Linear and Ballistic modes in supported menus. Prediction selects a calculated point; smoothing affects movement toward it. Hitbox selection defines which target point is used in the first place. These functions interact during tracking, but they remain separately adjustable controls.
